Who we are

Refugee Action Kingston exists to enable people seeking sanctuary in Kingston and surrounding areas to succeed as integrated members of the local community.

We’ve sought to be a positive source of support for people finding refuge in Kingston and South West London. One that focuses on matching the needs and ambitions of the people we work with.

Since 1991, Refugee Action Kingston has been the leading organisation supporting people seeking sanctuary in this area.

We help over 2,000 clients a year in the following areas:

  • Legal advice

  • Welfare advice

  • Counselling and wellbeing support

  • Community integration and support

  • English language teaching

  • Supplementary school services

  • Employment guidance

Our staff and volunteers are passionate about ensuring all members of our community – whether they were born here or have just arrived – get the opportunity to thrive.

External factors such as structural barriers, systemic policies and social attitudes have a huge impact on displaced people who arrive in the UK in search of safety. We’re committed to challenging stereotypes and prejudice, working to an anti-racist framework and continually addressing this in the context of our work.
